AMIEL'S
HISTORY
AMIEL’S is known as "ROCHESTER’S ORIGINAL SUBMARINE SANDWICHES". Many others claim a history of subs; however Amiel’s was the original. The establishment was also the first multi-unit sandwich shop in Rochester. In 1963,  Amiel J. Mokhiber, Sr. founded and opened the first AMIEL’S Restaurant, at the corner of West Main St. & Brown Street, an area also known to many as
" BullsHead ". In the years to come the elder Mr. Mokhiber built the business into one of Rochester’s true success stories, totaling twenty-four restaurants locally as well two units in London, England. He accomplished this through undying determination, hard work and loyal employees. Most of all, he believed if you provide the highest quality product to the customer each and every time, they will continue to patronize your establishment!

Today the company is much smaller. However the desire to grow and compete, all the while providing the high standards set by the original Amiel’s Sub chain is still paramount to the philosophy of Amiel’s Sandwich Shoppes.

The Henrietta location opened in the third quarter of 1990, and was received with open arms by the customers and public at large. Less than five years later, the Greece location opened and put the company in a new direction. The addition of gourmet sandwiches, soups and hot subs has allowed Amiel's to compete more effectively in the dinner market as well.

Amiel’s President & CEO is Mr. Amiel J. Mokhiber, Jr. son of the "original". He brings with him a desire to continue the tradition set forth by his father, and lend credibility and respect to the name that hangs over every Amiel’s Sandwich Shoppe restaurant.
